We’re looking for dedicated individuals to join us onboard as Junior 3rd Engineer Officer! The Engine is the heart of our ship, and our technical teams ensure the safe and smooth operation of the propulsion systems, engines, waste disposal systems, electrical and fire systems, air conditioning, and mechanical equipment while ensuring Environmental compliance so our guests can enjoy the FUN facilities we have on board.

As a 3rd Engine Officer Jr at Carnival, you will assist the Engine Officer on Watch (OOW) by locally monitoring and troubleshooting engine room equipment.  You will also take part in the repair and maintenance of Engine Room equipment as directed. You will learn and follow all policies and procedures, and as an Engine Officer, you will lead by example in your conduct on board.

Job functions:

  • Primarily run a safe and efficient engine room watch 
  • Ensuring maintenance is carried out as requested efficiently and accurately under the supervision of the Senior Leader in the Engine department
  • Ensuring compliance with Engine Room Resource Management standards of the Company
  • Carry out preventive maintenance of engine units of the department, including necessary repair works
  • Be able to operate Jacuzzi and swimming pool equipment which is also under her/his charge
  • Control of bunkering of the vessel
  • Perform inventory check of spare parts and consumables 
  • Understand all the ships systems and operate all the equipment effectively and efficiently in the engine room.
  • Know and understands the rule and regulations of ships operations with regards to SOLAS and MARPOL
  • Report defects and problems in the engine room to the Second and Staff Chief engineer in a timely fashion
  • Accurately complete the Engine room Logbook and Oil record books.
  • Keep good and open communications with the Senior Engine Officer on watch, reporting to all stakeholders and superiors
  • Understand and comply with the company Safety and Environmental Compliance Policy (ECP)
  • Understand the correct use of MSDS sheets
  • Be ready to assist the other watchkeeping officers in their duties, guidance, and control of all subordinated Team members

Minimum Requirements

  • To apply for this role, you must hold an IMO Certificate, Regulation III/1, Officer in charge of an engineering watch other than second engineer officer on ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 750 kW or more 
  • 1+ years of experience working as a watchkeeper, or you have recently completed a cadetship aboard a cruise vessel
  • Valid STCW certificates, as required for the position

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working within a cruise ship environment is a plus
