This position will have responsibility at Celebration Key but will be part of the broader Carnival Corporation Global Ports and Destinations Development (GPDD). GPDD is responsible for the development and operations of our 6 existing Carnival-owned destinations in the Caribbean: Grand Turk (Turks and Caicos), Mahogany Bay (Roatan, Honduras), Puerta Maya (Cozumel, Mexico), Amber Cove (Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic), Half Moon Cay (Little San Salvador, The Bahamas), and Princess Cays (Eleuthera, The Bahamas). GPDD is also responsible for the development and operations of Celebration Key, the destination for which this position supports, which opened in July 2025. The 6 existing destinations are expected to welcome more than 6 million visitors in 2024, with that number expected to grow significantly once Celebration Key is opened, and they include a variety of world-leading amenities such as: pristine beaches, pools, swim-up bars, water activities, food and beverage, retail, and cultural exhibits.


Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lifeguards have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Pass all necessary skills during annual renewal of (SGE) license. These skills include CPR, First Aid Rescue and Emergency Management Systems (EMS).
  • Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the lifeguard swim areas at Princess Cays and make sure that safety procedures, guidelines and policies are followed.
  • Warning of unsafe activities and enforcing water safety policies and beach/pool regulations.
  • Provide First aid in the event of injury, rescuing swimmers in danger or distress and administering Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or artificial respiration, if necessary.
  • Inspecting all beach/pool equipment, facilities, and water to make sure they are usable and safe.
  • Uphold environmental policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in cleaning equipment and facilities.
  • Opening and closing the beach/pool each day, depending on schedule and hours.
  • Cleaning the beach/pool at the end a ship day according to supervisor’s instructions.
  • Attend all meetings and training sessions provided by Celebration Key.
  • Participate in in-house service trainings to maintain the skills needed to perform rescues.
  • Report all work-related incidents, injuries and illness, hazards and, any. unsafe behaviors or conditions to the Lifeguard Supervisor.
  • Responsible for bringing guarding equipment out each morning and making sure to return it at the end of each day.
  • Responsible for acting in a professional, safe manner at all times.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards to keep work areas clean and tidy.
  • Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or minimize anything provided in the interest of worker health and safety.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related or non-job-related duties as assigned.
  • Take reasonable care of own health and safety.
  • Any other duties assigned by Management.


Education and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Guest-facing customer service experience.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment practical skills test in the water.
  • Ability to work on weekends and evenings.
  • Swimming skills and comfort in all kinds of water conditions
  • Ability to evaluate and judge the changing dynamics of people taking part in aquatic activities to immediately determine their strengths and weaknesses, as well as the threats to their safety.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety policies, on-site protocols and operational procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of techniques and methods for providing medical services in the event of an emergency.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and working outdoors.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • All island employees must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use/range of motion of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience Level

You should have at least 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.

Conversational English

Fluency in spoken English to connect with guests is required.

Guest Facing Experience

Customer service experience gained in a similar role is required.
