Bartender Trainee

Position Overview:

To provide quality beverage service to guests. Suggest and promote drinks that will proportionally, increase revenue
.To provide effective control of all assigned bars.
Supervise the basic operations of the bar servers and bar attendants, as per their job descriptions.
Ensure all promotions at respective bars are followed up as per procedure to maximize revenue.

Position duties and responsibilities:

To arrive at work at the specified time in a clean company-specified uniform. Always follow company uniform standards.
Always comply with company time and attendance procedures
Bartenders are the supervisors of their bars and are responsible for the bar stock, par levels and bar servers, bar attendants working in their respective bars.
To monitor and ensure the cost of the bar sales as per established budget guidelines.
Check the storeroom receiving and assist bar servers to set it up as needed.
To ensure that bar is stocked to par level upon opening with all items on the menu as well as all necessary supplies, i.e. glasses, ice, condiments, etc.
To have a comprehensive knowledge of the ingredients, prices, and call brands of all cocktails on the menu as well as the daily specials and any promotional sale for the day.
Prepare daily specials and other required drinks for parties as per recipe. Taste and check for consistency.
Ensure that the bar servers and bartenders are using shot glass, proper garnish and following company specs and are reporting and leaving duty on time.
In the absence of bar server, or if a bar server is not scheduled for a particular period, to provide prompt bar service, solicit refills to any guest seated in the lounge, and keep the tables in the lounge or immediate vicinity of the bar clean.
Assist to wash glasses when required.
Ensure bar counters are maintained neat, clean, and with the correct promotional material throughout the service period.
Scrutinize the bar area to ensure all furniture, equipment and lights and sound systems are in good condition. Report any deficiencies to the Beverage Management.
Ensure that music and lights in the lounge and public areas are adjusted to establish levels
To be aware of activities onboard and be able to inform the guests accordingly. If asked, be informed.
Liaise with the Beverage Management on all matters pertaining to bar activities.
Ensure that correct accounting procedures are always followed.
Advise Beverage Management whenever a guest(s) have been refused service due to excessive alcohol consumption.
Ensure that the bar is cleaned according to established USPH standards at the close of the shift. Responsible to clean bar counter, bottles, u/c fridges, blenders, shavers, beer coolers and coffee machines.
Prepare daily requisitions for replenishment of operating bar stock according to established par levels.
To work in the wine cellar as required by management. Maintain well-stocked wine cellar and accurately account for and control all stock movement.
To attend all scheduled private parties and functions.
To perform other duties as may be required and instructed by the management.
Punctually attend all meetings as required by the management.
Attend all safety drills as requested by the ship's command.

Position Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years experience as a Bar Tender onboard Cruise Ships
Fluency in conversational English.
Must be physically strong and able to lift a minimum of 60 lbs to sustain physically challenging work.
Ability to work as part of a team and on their own.
