Job Summary:


The Maître D' Dining Room (DR) plays a critical role in the ship's dining operations, working closely with the Sr. Maître D' and Restaurant Operations Manager. They are responsible for the overall success of the Lido operation and ensuring the fulfillment of its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and NPS. With a focus on inclusive dining areas, the Maître D' DR strives to deliver consistent, superior service and generate revenue in line with company standards. They supervise the dining floor, manage administrative tasks, and train restaurant staff, servers, and management. Effective communication and conveying team decisions contribute to the efficiency of the Lido operation and the achievement of its KPIs. The Maître D' actively enhances the service staff's efficiency through scheduling, communication, and training strategies, exceeding guest expectations and increasing revenue. They foster engagement, equity, diversity, and inclusion, promoting open communication and learning among team members. The Maître D' DR prepares for advancement to the Sr. Maître D' position as part of their career progression, signifying professional growth within the company.


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Supervise all restaurant activities onboard the ship, particularly in inclusive main dining rooms and Lido, while ensuring compliance with company standards and overseeing seamless coordination of inclusive dining venues to provide exceptional guest experiences during various dining events.


  • Support the Sr. Maître D' and Restaurant Operations Manager in monitoring, updating, and adjusting server schedules according to operational needs, ensuring optimal man-hour distribution.
  • Administer dining room reservations, ensuring proper and timely execution, and accommodate special dining requests when possible.


  • Deliver professional speeches during dinner in the main dining room and during other dining events, providing informative content and promoting alternative dining venues. The Maître D' may also be required to participate in various events to promote dining services onboard the ship.


  •  Oversee the performance of restaurant employees, management, and service staff.


  •  Actively engage in facilitating and planning training for all restaurant employees, including management and service staff, to ensure a well-trained and high-performing team.


  • Be fully versed in all restaurant reservation systems, XDining, POS-CSS, SailorMate, CrunchTime, InfoShip, SeaMS, MenuMate and any other systems essential for the efficient management of dining operations onboard the ship.


  • Maintain adherence to mandatory knowledge, procedures, and policies while ensuring consistency in service, revenue generation, and a healthy working environment.

  • Ensure compliance with all health, environmental, safety, and security procedures in all dining venues onboard the ship, upholding the highest standards of quality and safety.


  • Collaborate with the Sr Maître D' to ensure accurate and timely submission of all operational inventories for main dining rooms, maintaining efficiency and high levels of accuracy.


  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as necessary or directed by management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience Level

At least 5 years of experience in similar roles is required.

English Proficiency

Advanced level proficiency in English is required.

Guest Facing Experience

Customer service experience gained in a similar role is required.

Physically Fit

You must pass a Seafarers Medical Fitness Examination.
