The 1st Deck JR Officer role will be vital to our navigation teams and safe watch on board. As part of the watch team, you will prioritize the safety of the voyage so our guests can have a great vacation experience in their home away from home! You’ll be working all around our vessel and on the ship's bridge to maintain the highest levels of safety. As with all of our team members, you’ll be a highly visible team member and will constantly interact with our guests and help them with questions. The vacation experience we promise our guests will start with you!


Job Summary


  • Bridge Watch Keeper as required by the BRMM Procedures
  • The Jr. 1st Officer is the “Bridge Manager”
  • Ensure that the Bridge Standards and Watchkeeping procedures are followed, reporting any deficiencies to the Staff Captain and the Master.
  • Organize Monthly Nautical and Voyage Overview meetings.
  • Responsible, during his/her watch, for the execution and monitoring of the voyage plan according to the V.P. Procedures.
  • Responsible of the Charts (ENC/Paper) and Publications correction and upkeeping.
  • Ensures that the Company’s Safety & Environmental policies and procedures are duly applied and followed.
  • Maintenance and Tests as per PMS assigned Job Cards (Bridge Manager)
  • Responsible for Tanks Inspection, Maintenance & Recordkeeping as directed by the Stability Officer.
  • He/she is responsible for the familiarization and the Ship's Maneuver characteristics for the deck officer assigned to his watch.
  • Supervises the Stability condition during his/her watch and notifies the Stability Officer and the Master in case of any issue.
  • Ensuring that all Deck Officers are familiar with the use of the ship's stability calculation computer program (onboard NAPA).
  • Familiarization of Bridge Equipment for Deck Officers.
  • Trainer/Assessor within the Training, Drill and Assessment program.
  • Responsible to the Master and Staff Captain for BRM Procedure and related checklist.
  • Responsible for the Maintenance of the Bridge equipment.
  • Responsible of the ECDIS Familiarization for Deck Officers.
  • Responsible for the Deck Officers familiarization with Bridge Equipment.
  • Responsible to inform joiner(s) Officer(s) about latest Nautical Learning Event
  • Responsible for the assigned PMS works.
  • Responsible for updating the Bridge Instruments report and issuing service requisitions.
  • Responsible for Magnetic Compass deviation daily check.




Minimum Requirements:

  • IMO Certificate – Chief Mate (STCW II/2 on ships of 3000 Gross Tonnage or more)
  • Flag state IMO endorsement of recognition
  • ECDIS -Courses and Certification
  • Survival Craft Operation Certificate
  • 2 years' experience as a Chief Mate
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to act quickly and remain calm when under pressure
  • Proven experience working in a diverse and fast-paced environment
  • Valid GMDSS Certificate and Flag endorsement
  • Additional Training certificates as per STCW 95 and Company Regulations
  • High School diploma; applicants must be +21 years old



Preferred Requirements:

  • Master Unlimited License
  • 2+ years of experience as Chief/ 1st Deck Officer on medium to large cruise vessels
  • Quick progression through Nautical Ranks, with experience working on various vessel sizes

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience Level

At least 5 years of experience in similar roles is required.

English Proficiency

Advanced level proficiency in English is required.

Guest Facing Experience

Minimum guest interaction might be required.

Physically Fit

You must pass a Seafarers Medical Fitness Examination.
