As part of our amazing Engine Team Assistant Fitter Mechanics help to maintain and repair our ship technical, Galley and Laundry equipment. Assistant Fitter mechanics play a vital part in ensuring all equipment is functioning properly to ensure we can provide the best amenities and services to our guests to ensure they have a FUN and memorable vacation!  

 

Joining Carnival as an Assistant Fitter Mechanic is the first step towards a rewarding career on board our Fun Ships! 


  • Assists in performing major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work in marine equipment to determine needs for repairs or adjustments. 
  • Assists in the repair and maintenance of hydraulic equipment and valves. 
  • Operates hand and power tools associated with marine engines and equipment. 
  • One of the engine room daily workers. 
  • Preventing spares and tools from being damaged due to poor handling or exposure to the weather. 
  • Assisting in the maintenance and repair of the ship's laundry and Galley equipment. 
  • Performs on-call duty as per the department schedule 
  • Adhere to all environmental policies and procedures 
  • Fully participates in all safety training and drills.  


Minimum Requirements: What do you bring to the table? 


  • Minimum 12 months experience with engine repairs and maintenance
  • High School Diploma, Technical training
  • Basic Training Certificates as per STCW standard
  • English language proficiency
  • Strong focus on ship's safety management
  • Ability to work well with a team


Preferred Requirements: What would we love to see? 

  • Shipboard experience in the same capacity onboard cruise ship
  • Certificate of Competency STCW reg: III/4 and III/5 is preferred




JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience Level

You should have at least 2-4 years of experience in a similar role.

English Proficiency

Intermediate level proficiency in English is required.

Guest Facing Experience

Minimum guest interaction might be required.

Physically Fit

You must pass a Seafarers Medical Fitness Examination.
