As part of our amazing Engine Team as an Assistant Reefer, you will be assisting our Refrigeration Officers in the maintenance and repair of shipboard air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Working as part of the small Refrigeration Team under the guidance of the Chief Refrigeration Officer, you will play a vital part in ensuring our ship stays cool, so our guests can enjoy their FUN vacations!

  • Support the HVAC & Refrigeration Engineer Officer in the maintenance and upkeep of the vessel's ventilation, air condition, and refrigeration systems 
  • Performs elementary mechanical tasks. 
  • Assist the HVAC & Refrigeration Engineer Officer in the execution of the maintenance and routine testing of equipment, instruments, and automation 
  • Ensure all aspects of our occupational health and safety programs are effectively applied 
  • Ensure all aspects of the company's global (HESS-MS) Health, Environment, Safety and Security Management System are effectively applied during his/her working activities 
  • Perform on-call duties as per the Department rotation 
  • Participate in drills and training as required by the company 
  • Complete additional assignments depending on shipboard operations 


Minimum Requirements: What do you bring to the table? 


  • Minimum 12-18 months of proven experience working with AC/HVAC systems
  • High School Diploma, Technical training in AC/HVAC
  • Basic Training Certificates as per STCW standard
  • English language proficiency
  • Strong focus on ship safety management
  • Ability to work well with a team


Preferred Requirements: What would we love to see? 

  • Shipboard experience in the same capacity on board cruise ships


JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience Level

You should have at least 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.

English Proficiency

Intermediate level proficiency in English is required.

Guest Facing Experience

Minimum guest interaction might be required.

Physically Fit

You must pass a Seafarers Medical Fitness Examination.
