Your Responsibilities and Tasks: What will you be doing? 


  • Comprehensive Flooring Installations:
  1. Execute the replacement and installation of diverse flooring types, including ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, and other materials, throughout all guest and crew areas of the ship.
  2. Remove existing flooring materials efficiently and carefully, ensuring minimal disruption to ship operations.
  3. Prepare surfaces thoroughly, including precise underlayment and leveling, to create a stable foundation for new floor installations.
  4. Ensure proper floor sloping is established during installation to facilitate drainage and maintain safety.
  • Tile and Grout Work:
  1. Remove and replace damaged or worn ceramic and other types of tiles, maintaining the ship's high standards of appearance.
  2. Apply grout with precision to ensure clean, durable, and aesthetically pleasing finishes, including the meticulous cleaning of excess grout.
  3. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on existing tile installations, addressing issues such as cracks, stains, or loose tiles promptly.
  • Resin Flooring Maintenance and Replacement:
  1. Perform regular maintenance and replacement of resin flooring surfaces as needed, including preparation and application.
  2. Ensure proper care and handling of specialized materials used in resin flooring applications.
  • Surface Preparation and Inspection:
  1. Conduct pre-installation assessments to identify flooring needs and select appropriate materials for each area.
  2. Clean and prepare subfloors for installation, ensuring they are level, dry, and ready for tile, resin, or other flooring materials.
  3. Use appropriate tools and techniques to ensure proper floor sloping for drainage and safety.
  • Maintenance of Materials, Tools, and Workspaces:
  1. Maintain materials, tools, and workspaces in a clean, organized, and properly labeled condition at all times, adhering to all safety regulations and best practices.
  2. Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of all materials and waste.
  • Shipboard Collaboration and Responsibilities:
  1. Work in a "review-house" type of environment, coordinating with other teams and potentially interacting with guests.
  2. Adhere strictly to all shipboard safety procedures and regulations, including safe work practices and emergency response protocols.
  3. Possess strong visual, verbal, and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions, especially during emergency situations, including lifeboats.
  4. Be able to lift and/or move up to 55 pounds as needed for material handling and equipment use.
  5. Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance, ready for guest service as required.
  6. Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure seamless project execution and coordination.


Minimum Requirements: What do you bring to the table? 

  • 2+ years of experience in the field, preferably with Technical training
  • High School diploma
  • Basic STCW Training
  • English language proficiency
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Suitable applicants must be 21+ years old


Preferred Requirements: What would we love to see? 

  • Shipboard experience in the same capacity on a cruise ship

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience Level

You should have at least 2-4 years of experience in a similar role.

English Proficiency

Advanced level proficiency in English is required.

Guest Facing Experience

Some level of interaction with guests will be required.

Physically Fit

You must pass a Seafarers Medical Fitness Examination.
