The hotel director is a key member of the vessel’s senior leadership team and is the highest-ranking hotel operations officer onboard. This role leads the planning and implementation of unparalleled product delivery, with a focus on high guest and team member satisfaction. The hotel director demonstrates collaborative leadership of all departments within hotel operations, while personally exhibiting adherence to the Corporate Vision Statement, Culture Essentials and Values and ensuring these behaviors are also maintained amongst all teams. The hotel director leads the following teams: Beverage Operations, Culinary/Food Operations, Entertainment, Housekeeping/Laundry, Finance, Guest Services, IT, Art, Casino, Photo, Shore Excursions, Spa, Retail (in-house and partners). The hotel director reports directly to the master of the vessel, with a dotted line to the guest operations leader shore side.


Job functions:

  • In conjunction with the shipboard leadership team, oversee hotel shipboard operational leaders and provide support to all other operational leaders onboard in order to deliver higher guest satisfaction,
  • TGEM and NPS, and higher onboard profitability, onboard revenue and hotel costs.
  • Manage guest expectations for all functional teams; deal with complaints and be visible for assistance.
  • Work closely with shipboard leaders and shoreside functional leaders (such as Housekeeping, Technical, Guest Port Services, etc.) to ensure key projects and initiatives are being implemented onboard.
  • Lead the hotel inspection process in order to develop and prioritize the necessary repair and maintenance (short term and long term) as well as the annual capex budgets.
  • Lead the S.A.I.L initiative for hotel; hold weekly SAIL meeting; ensure all functional leaders are participating and engaging with their teams; track results.
  • Manage talent/performance management and feedback for direct reports.
  • Lead the hotel area in safety assessments; HESS audits; etc. to ensure the team is properly trained and prepared.
  • Directs the shipboard team during irregular operations, serving as the conduit between the shipboard leaders, guests and shore side teams, while maintaining a focus on guest and team member safety and satisfaction. 


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s Degree (preferred) in Hotel Management, Business or rother related field.
  • Must have at 10 years of operating experience. Hotel/ hospitality experience is required. Technical experience is preferred.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • Requires regular movement throughout CCL ships. May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Responsible for reporting information related to environmental releases or inadequate performance of environmental pollution protection equipment, system casualties resulting in internal spills, excessive waste development and leaking equipment with oil-to-sea interfaces. (Environmental Compliance Plan, dated 30 NOV 2016).
  • Must be detail oriented with an eye for guest experience and guest satisfaction. Strong organizational and project management skills Strong Communication Skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate and drive resolution across multifunctional area. Ability to communicate effectively to Guests and Onboard teams.
  • Decisions focus on intermediate-term issues. The purpose of decisions made at this level are to help move CCL closer to reaching strategic goals. Outcomes are predictable. After a decision is made by Top Executive Leadership, the next phase is to take the needed steps to implement it. Examples are: The amount of money required to implement, which advertising agency to promote a new service or to provide an incentive plan to employees to encourage increased revenue. (Typically, Directors+)
  • Must be detail oriented with an eye for guest experience and guest satisfaction. Strong organizational and project management skills Strong Communication Skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate and drive resolution across multifunctional area.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to Guests and Onboard teams
  •  Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout CCL ships.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience Level

At least 10 years of experience in similar roles is required.

English Proficiency

Advanced level proficiency in English is required.

Guest Facing Experience

Customer service experience gained in a similar role is required.

Physically Fit

You must pass a Seafarers Medical Fitness Examination.
