As part of our amazing Engine Team, Wiper RTs are responsible for cleaning and painting Engine Room spaces and machinery. This behind-the-scenes role plays a vital part in ensuring our ships are maintained to the highest standard so our guests can enjoy their FUN, Memorable vacations!

Your Responsibilities and Tasks: What will you be doing? 


  • Participate in keeping the engine spaces and related areas clean and tidy at all times, including washing. They should also be able to participate in maintenance work, mainly related to sanitizing equipment, under supervision. 
  • Responsible for the cleanliness, sanitization, and elimination of pests in the garbage area, garbage cold storage room, and cooking oil tank room. 
  • Monitor and operate the incinerator plant and all related equipment, including the ash vacuum transport and packaging system. Also maintain and clean the incinerator room and pulper room machinery spaces. The Wiper RT will report any issues or conditions to the engineer or duty. 
  • Ensures that all garbage handling equipment, such as shredders, conveyors, compactors, incinerators, refrigerators for garbage, pulper systems, drains, pumps, and pipes, are in good working order and in operational condition at all times. If inoperative, report the condition to the assigned Engineer. Also, ensure that all garbage handling equipment and decks in the garbage area are clean, sanitized, and painted at all times. 
  • Change the water in pulper systems daily, and log times when the water has been changed and when the system has been cleaned. 
  • Keep all sensors, fire fighting equipment as well as all the environmental machinery free of dirt. 
  • At  the completion of the segregation operation, wash and rinse all the plastic containers and garbage bins that are in the area. 
  • Perform washing and painting jobs in the waste handling areas, painting at the accommodation areas, as well as participate in maintenance work as directed by superiors. 
  • Perform re-watch duty in Engine Spaces when requested.
  • Wiper RT must always wear the proper PPE while carrying out their duties. The individual must also ensure that all persons working in the garbage area wear protective gear properly. 


  • Candidates are planned to go on board from January until December 2023. The first contract will commence in January and last until June or July, followed by a 6—to 8-week break. The second contract will start mid / end of August and last until December.


  • Candidates are expected to be adaptable and flexible to constant Vessel/ assignment changes every 2 weeks - 2 months , within the contract period.



Minimum Requirements: What do you bring to the table? 


  • Minimal 6 months of proven shipboard experience as a Wiper
  • High School Diploma, Technical training
  • Basic STCW Trainings
  • English Language proficiency
  • Follow Carnival’s Occupational and Health policies and procedures at all times.
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Being the representative of the Carnival Brand
  • Having a valid C1D is an advantage


Preferred Requirements: What would we love to see? 

  • Experience as Wiper RT onboard cruise ships


JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience Level

You should have at least 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.

English Proficiency

Intermediate level proficiency in English is required.

Guest Facing Experience

Minimum guest interaction might be required.

Physically Fit

You must pass a Seafarers Medical Fitness Examination.
