Our ships are floating hotels and our guests like to enjoy all of the delicious food prepared by our Culinary Arts Team. Galley & Hotel Service Technicians are the behind-the-scenes superstars who support the Culinary team by ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of the galley equipment's mechanical, electrical, and electronic components. You will be part of the amazing Engine Team on board reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Manager but working closely with our Hotel Managers to ensure all the equipment in the Main Galley, Crew Galley, Services Galley, Pantries, and Specialty Restaurants are fully functional and ready to serve our guests' needs.

Your Responsibilities and Tasks: What will you be doing? 


You are responsible for the preventive maintenance, upkeep, and troubleshooting of the following Galley and Main Laundry equipment's mechanical, electrical, and electronic components:


Main Galley, Crew Galley, Services Galleys, Pantries and Specialty Restaurant:

·      Dish and Glass Washers

·      Ovens (mechanical parts assistance)

·      Gaylord System

·      Deep fat Fryers (safety thermostat test)

·      Ancillary Equipment (slicers, mixers, etc.)

·      Biodigester equipment


 Main Laundry:

·      Washers/Extractors

·      Dryers

·      Ironing Machines

·      Folders


Hotel area equipment

·      Coffee Machines

·      Juice/Blender Machines

·      Guest/Crew Laundry equipment

·      Main Laundry equipment

·      Gym equipment

·      Glass sliding doors / ADA automatic doors


NOTE: GST / HST are responsible for maintaining assigned equipment under FMM responsibility. However, support and guidance can be requested from the Electrical Dept. (SETO or Chief Electrician) to ensure and verify electrical installation standards, advanced troubleshooting, or whenever a higher level of electrical expertise is required to ensure proper equipment operation. The Electrical shop can supply consumable material if needed and will ensure the calibration of electronic instruments as required


  • Perform comprehensive electrical/electronic* and mechanical maintenance (where indicated and trained), repair, routine testing, and automation troubleshooting of the above-mentioned equipment.
  • Maintain current records of maintenance and repairs performed
  •  Help with the continuous updating and development of planned maintenance procedures through experience gained with each type of machine onboard for which they are responsible.
  • Ensure the inventory of strategic spare parts on board is sufficient to adequately maintain each machine.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the assigned equipment
  • Participate in drills and training as required by the Company.
  • Any additional assignments at the discretion of the Chief Engineer
  • All work is to be requested and coordinated by the FMM.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the company's OH&S are effectively applied during their working activities.


Minimum Requirements: What do you bring to the table? 


  • 2+ years direct experience with mechanical equipment, electrical and electronic components (Galley/Culinary/Electrical)
  • High School Diploma, Technical Education, Electrical/Electronic Diploma or Professional certificate
  • Basic STCW Trainings
  • English language proficiency
  • Follow Carnival’s Occupational and Health policies and procedures at all times.
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Effectively represent the Carnival Brand

  • Experience as a Galley & Hotel Service Technician on board cruise ships
