The Assistant Server Team Dining plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to team members in the Team Dining Rooms onboard the ship. This position focuses exclusively on creating comfortable dining experiences within the team dining venues, ensuring seamless service and maintaining the highest standards of hospitality


Job Functions:


Key Responsibilities:

  • Embrace the company's hospitality standard, greeting guests and co-workers with a smile, making eye contact, and using names.
  • Adhere to scheduled assignments in Team Dining Rooms according to operational requirements.
  • Ensure punctuality for all duties and functions according to company standards.
  • Provide consistently exceptional service that exceeds the expectations of internal guests (Crew, Staff, and Officers).
  • Study and follow USPH standards, garbage separation procedures, and other environmental guidelines onboard.
  • Study and successfully complete quizzes to progress to the role of Assistant Team Server and fulfill all tasks requested by management.


Team Dining Room Set up and maintenance:

  • Follow supervisor instructions and always maintain the assigned dining area in a clean and organized manner.
  • Set up team dining room tables according to company standards, including proper placement of tableware, glassware, and linens.
  • Ensure all dining stations are properly stocked with necessary service items before each meal service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of service stations throughout meal periods.


Menu Knowledge and Standards:

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of daily offerings and menus, including ingredients, preparation methods, and allergen information.
  • Always maintain Team Dining room standards as established by company policies and procedures.
  • Stay informed about daily specials.


Buffet and Food Service:

  • Set up and maintain buffets according to company standards, ensuring proper food presentation with the required service equipment and temperature control.
  • Monitor buffet stations continuously, replenishing items as needed and maintaining food safety standards. (Dessert & Cold buffet only)
  • Assist with food service from galley to dining room for a la carte orders, following proper food handling procedures.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery.


Service Management:

  • Serve and clear meals efficiently while maintaining professional service standards.
  • Offer comprehensive hot and cold beverage service throughout the meal period.
  • Anticipate needs and respond promptly to requests for additional items or assistance.
  • Handle inquiries and concerns professionally, escalating to supervisors when necessary.


Operational Support:

  • Assist with preservice preparation including table settings, napkin folding, and condiment placement.
  • Support post-service cleaning and breakdown procedures according to established protocols.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to maintain service excellence.
  • Collaborate with fellow team members to ensure smooth Team dining room operations.
  • Participate in service training and skill development sessions.
  • Maintain inventory of service supplies and communicate needs to supervisors.


Special Events and Functions:

  • Assist with special dining events and themed dinners within the team dining rooms.


Expectations:

  • Consistently provide memorable service to Team members, ensuring a memorable dining experience in team dining rooms.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow team members to maintain smooth dining operations.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced dining environment, and prioritize tasks effectively during meal periods.
  • Comprehensive understanding of food and beverage service, including menu knowledge, proper service techniques, and dining protocols.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to the team's success.
  • Show commitment to learning, improving performance, and professional development within the dining operations.
  • Ability to lift and carry loads up to 50 lbs. as required for daily dining operations, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and service efficiency.
  • Always Maintain strict adherence to USPH (United States Public Health) regulations and standards, ensuring readiness for unannounced inspections by consistently following proper sanitation procedures, food safety protocols, and hygiene practices in all team dining room operations.
  • Enthusiastically participate in team dining room entertainment activities, ceremonies, themed dinner events, and coordinated service to enhance the communal dining atmosphere and create memorable team dining experiences.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of dining room layout and seating arrangements.
  • Always maintain professional appearance and adherence to uniform standards.
